3 x Innovation

On 29 October 2015, the annual RIVM innovation day was held. The first digital RIVM magazine about innovation was released, and the innovation award presented.

RIVM devotes its knowledge to public health and a healthy environment. We do this for, as well as with, society, meaning that collaboration is essential for innovation. On the RIVM Innovation Day, RIVM demonstrated about 15 innovations and talked to (future) collaboration partners. Using presentations, Daan Roosegaarde of studio Roosegaarde demonstrated how he combines technology and art into innovative products.

The RIVM Innovation award is annually presented to an RIVM project that makes RIVM knowledge applicable for Dutch society in an innovative manner. In 2015, 50 suggestions were submitted. During the RIVM innovation day on 29 October, Minister Edith Schippers of the Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sports presented the award to Desiree Beaujean for the Tekentrektrainer (tick-pulling trainer) project.

The RIVM magazine was digitally released for the first time with a special about innovations, which include: Winning through exercising; I am currently suffering from something app; Cheap quick test measures innate immunity; Measuring more with less blood; Tracing suspect substances faster and cheaper.
